Vtoo.2 Chase Week, Day Three, Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

This was by all measure the least likely day for severe weather but we made the most of it and it actually turned out to have a few surprises.

We decided to stay in eastern Colorado despite the fact that a lot of focus was on the advance of a front through the Great Plains.  But in our few, it wasn’t that great of a chance for tornadoes and besides, we knew we’d be hanging out in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska for a least a few more days.

Said front brought drier and cooler air into eastern Colorado on north to northeast winds.  There was better shear in northern Colorado and better instability in southern portions of the state.

We split the difference and decided to head down to around Colorado Springs and wait.  There was a persistant idea which included the return of somewhat higher dew points on east winds in southeastern Colorado.  But examination of the low level clouds revealed they were hitting there heads
