Radar Rain Estimate

The official record rainfall for Springfield was broken today but that’s not the whole story!  The old record was 2.47″ recorded in 1958.

But as the radar estimate map shows and “ground truth” verifies, a large swath of Greene, Christian and Webster Counties had 6-7″ totals with isolated amounts of 8-11 inches!  The areas of red start the 3″ estimates so it was a sizeable rain for at least the Missouri portion of the Ozarks.

There were isolated heavy rain totals in portions of northern Arkansas but generally the coverage of rain was more limited to the south. Some of the heavier rain totals:

Turners Station 11″
Near Millwood 10.5
Highway J/Rogersville 7.5
 SE Greene  8.0
 Strafford  7.5

More rain and even the possibility of some severe weather awaits our area on Thursday!  A cool front will bring an end to all of this late Thursday night.  The weekend looks dry and very cool!
