Rainfall Forecast for Tonight
11:03 am in Uncategorized by Ted Keller
The “wet” front will tap into the increased humidity of today to produce decent rainfall totals over the western portion of MIssouri this afternoon and tonight. Areas west of a line from Lake of the Ozarks to Eureka Springs can expect anywhere from .50 to 1″ with local amounts higher in isolated storms. Widespread severe weather is not expected with these storms.
Cool August
5:52 pm in Uncategorized by Ted Keller
This month has recorded six ninety-degree days with the warmest 95 back on the 8th.
But the vast majority of the days have been below normal. We’ve had five fifty degree mornings with more coming to close out the month which ends Monday night. In fact, Monday morning might just produce lows in the forties in the Ozarks! The current forecast low for Monday morning is 51 and the record for this morning is 48.
Speaking of ending the month, I plugged in the current forecast through the 31st and ran the average temperature with a result of 73.9. This would just miss getting onto the top ten coolest August list. The number ten slot is August of 1904 at 73.8 degrees.

Tropical Storm Danny
11:11 am in Uncategorized by Ted Keller
The area of disturbed weather being tracked north of the Carribbean Islands has gone directly to tropical storm status this morning. “Danny” has winds estimated at 45 mph. The National Hurricane Center expects Danny to become a hurricane while off the coast of North Carolina sometime during the early morning hours of Saturday.
It’s track is more westward than its powerful predecessor “Bill” and may threaten the coastal New England area Saturday night
Some Severe Storms Still Possible
2:01 am in Uncategorized by Ted Keller
There is still a threat for severe storms in the area outlined in blue for the next few hours. A cold front will sweep into this region over the next several hours. The storms which are in southeastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma still may kick up there heels as the wind fields look good and the front gives these storms a boost. The tornado threat is remote but not zero in this area.
